Education

Sometimes as educators, we wonder what is the purpose of giving our children education.
The root word of education in Latin implies of to draw out. Since ancient time, the objectives of education is to bring out the best in a person. The Great Chinese Educator, Confucius emphasized the character building as a key objective.

We may fall into the conventional thinking that education is just a fulfillment of parental duty and socio-legal obligation. No doubt we hope for a better future through giving good education to our dear children. They are the future!

The current world culture, as we are already a global village, is to look at achievements. It is not wrong to look at that. However, looking at that aspect alone, would be depriving so much out of wholesome education. To build a society, there must be multiple talents and gifts. The nurturing of individual talents which is unique to each child shall not be neglected.

On the other hand, human lives in society. We cannot live alone. The child has to be taught to interact properly with each other as human person.

This comes to conclude that education involves passing on of good values- character building; putting in effort to do well- achievement. Nurturing unique individual talents for better future societal advancement.

Educators includes everyone who provides education, especially parents.
